Twitter is the most popular social-networking microblogging site on the web. Many educators have heard of Twitter and the term social-networking, but most are not really sure what it means or understand the potential that it has to inform, communicate and collaborate, especially in education.
Understanding social media and the impact it has on our society should be the goal of every educator. Twitter, especially, can be an amazing tool to harness the power of social-networking for our students and for professional growth. We will look at ways that Twitter can be used with students, including elementary, to connect to the world while promoting good digital citizenship. We will also focus on our own professional growth and create a PLN or “Personal Learning Network.” You will find educators, authors, and scientists from around the globe who are eager to share and learn together. Join them!
This workshop will start with a focus on Twitter and how it can be used for professional development, classroom instruction and collaboration as well as creating a PLN. Like many other educators, you may come to appreciate Twitter as your best professional development experience ever.
