2009 Creative Teaching with Interactive Whiteboards Workshop
Boston, Massachusetts (Note: Sold Out!)

Description

An Interactive Whiteboard is a 21st Century tool that allows a teacher to transform a classroom and draw on the skills of the 21st Century Learner through visual, interactive and formative assessment design techniques.

Transforming curriculum for the 21st century learner involves delving deeply into curriculum design - rethinking and reseeing ways that the student can learn and understand essential questions. This new classroom tool can help the teacher create curriculum that is visual, interactive, student-centered, and includes formative assessment so that the teacher understands in real-time what the student is learning. Digital lesson outcomes can be published with Web 2.0 tools allowing students and teachers to further analyze, collaborate and publish their work. All of these tools and features empower the student learner.

Through this two-day workshop, educational leaders will learn how Interactive White Boards can:

  1. Increase student engagement
  2. Provide real-time assessment for teachers
  3. Increase ease of incorporating Internet resources into daily classroom teaching
  4. Reach different student learning styles and strengths through access to visual and audio resources to supplement texts.
  5. Create digital content that can be used with Web 2.0 collaborative tools
  6. Gives ability to take full advantage of a school or district existing hardware and software investment.
  7. Provides opportunity for meaningful Professional Development around building digital lessons.

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop (or tablet) with wireless.

Each participant receives a copy of Best Ideas for Teaching with Technology, A Practical Guide for Teachers, by Teachers co-authored by Tom Daccord and Justin Reich.
