iPad Sessions

  • Speaker: Elizabeth Glassman

Are you ready to experience a hands-on session to see how you can truly use iPads in your classroom? Join me to not only talk about strategies that work, but actually experience activities from a student’s point of view. My goal is to help you navigate between using iPads as tools for consumption and tools for creation in your science classroom. Featured content topics will be “hAPPy Friday” challenges, cellular biology, genetics, forensic science, anatomy/physiology, dissection, and more. Whether you have a 1:1 iPad program, shared carts, or class sets of iPads, my presentation applies to you. This is a great session for anyone starting out with iPads or for those of us who have experience and are looking for more ideas!
  • Speaker: Meghan Zigmond

Join this interactive session where you’ll discover "How To" publish writing in the "How To" genre as movies on the iPad. We’ll plan a How To story, use a menu of creative tools like Adobe Spark, ChatterPix, Book Creator and more. You’ll walk away with a video, an app menu, and the tools to help your young students publish any type of writing on their own in amazing ways!
  • Speaker: Tom Daccord

The iPad is a favorite device of many elementary and middle school educators for a variety of reasons: flexibility, portability, engagement, intriguing apps and more. From digital storytelling to multimedia reports and tutorials, BookCreator facilitates wonderful combinations of text, handwriting, images, audio, video and more. In this workshop, you’ll create a multimedia book using Book Creator and practice useful "app smashing" scenarios with Tellagami and Shadow Puppet EDU.
  • Speaker: Beth Holland

How do students demonstrate not only what they have learned but also how and why? With iPads, even the youngest of students can construct powerful multimedia creations to demonstrate their understanding and make their thinking visible. In this hands-on workshop, we will explore ways to develop App Fluency in elementary classrooms and scaffold the process of teaching students to become active constructors of their own learning artifacts as well as master problem-solvers.
