A silver lining of this global pandemic is the opportunity it provides to rethink the student learning process and reconsider the role of assessment. In this course, we’ll examine concepts, frameworks, strategies, and examples, for working with teachers to advance instructional innovation with the aim of empowering all students. The course explores how to nurture, develop, and implement a shared vision of desired learning and assessment co-constructed by both administrators and teachers. Participants will be introduced to a diagnostic framework to assess teacher and administrator “innovation readiness” and also a “gap analysis” to identify what is required to go from the current state to the desired innovative state. Moreover, going forward, learning experiences may become “hybrid” — happening remotely and in-person — and educators will need assessment frameworks and strategies for both environments. Right now, coaching and guiding teachers to formulate a new vision for student learning and assessment is of the highest priority and this course will help you create a path forward.
