G Suite & Google Drive for Remote Learning: Middle & High School

May 18th – May 22nd

One Week Spring Online Course

In this one week Spring course, EdTechTeacher instructor Greg Kulowiec will guide an exploration into the many approaches educators can take to leverage G Suite and Google Drive in a remote learning environment for middle and high school classrooms. The dual focus of the course will be on creative and thoughtful uses of the core G Suite tools along with the thoughtful design of these digital experiences to ensure a meaningful student experience. From core tools including Docs & Slides to dynamic platforms including Jamboard, Tour Creator, My Maps & Google Earth, educator participants will gain insight into the creative, collaborative and expansive potential of G Suite for remote learning.

Course Outline

The course will run online from from May 18th – May 22nd

Over the one week period, participants will engage in:

  • Three (3) synchronous webinars
  • Three (3) asynchronous online activities & challenges

Online Activities / Modules: This online course will be facilitated through Google Classroom. All course materials, updates, webinar links and course discussions will be available through Google Classroom.

NOTE: Please have access to a personal Gmail / Google account to participate in this course.

School issued G Suite for Education accounts will not allow access into our Google Classroom course.

Webinars: All synchronous webinars will take place from 3:00 – 4:00 EST through Zoom. Webinar recordings will be archived and available in the Google Classroom course.

Meet the Instructor – Greg Kulowiec

Prior to joining EdTechTeacher, Greg spent eight years as a high school history teacher and one year as a technology integration specialist in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He began integrating technology into his classroom with early mobile devices including iPods and cell phones. An early adopter of iPads, Chromebooks and 1:1 environments, Greg quickly transitioned to integrating Project Based Learning Environments. Work that his students created during their studies of the Arab Spring of 2011 was featured on National Public Radio.  

Since 2012 as a full time instructor with EdTechTeacher, Greg brings a dynamic approach to technology integration that is paired with powerful instructional frameworks such as Project Based Learning and Design Thinking. Greg works with school districts and teachers throughout the country in workshops and year long professional development to explore thoughtful and effective uses of technology. Greg is a Google Certified Trainer, a Microsoft Innovative Educator, and the co-host of the “So We’ve Been Thinking Podcast”. Greg has presented at MassCue, NCSS, MASCD, ISTE, Google’s Global Education Summit and the EdTechTeacher Innovation Summits.

Greg lives in Newburyport, MA with his wife and two children and dog (Tugboat).
