“Creativity is the highest form of student cognition.” The importance of creativity (and social skills) cannot be overstated as it is an aspect of our humanity that is very difficult for machines to replicate in our workplaces and society at large. In this workshop, we’ll examine the concepts of exploratory, combinational, and transformational creativity and how they can contribute to student cognitive creativity. We’ll examine America’s growing “creative class”, how AI is challenging (but not usurping) human creativity, and how creativity often flows in the face of constraints. In all, the workshop blends theory and practice to nurture enlightening learning strategies to enhance student creativity, and simultaneously build social skills.
