Kate’s Bio
Kate Wilson joined EdTechTeacher in 2014 to help implement the vision of the organization through online resources and social media. A designer and educator, she manages the digital presence of EdTechTeacher through websites, social media, and marketing materials. As an authorized Google Education Trainer, Kate assists instructors during onsite workshops and speaks at regional and national conferences such as MassCUE, CECA, and the EdTechTeacher Summits about the importance of STEAM and Coding in schools.
After graduating from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2008 with a degree in Architecture and Mathematics, she worked in Copenhagen, Denmark to help a study-abroad school bridge the gap between technology and education. Upon returning home to Rhode Island in 2010, Kate pursued her Masters in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University while working as educational technologist for Rhode Island NSF EPSCoR, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS, and Math) focused program aimed at bringing Rhode Island higher education institutions together with elementary and high schools. At EPSCoR, she implemented various technology resources to support teachers, staff, and students.
A passionate sailor, Kate has coached the local high school teams for years and designed a summer program that focused on both sailing and environmental education for elementary and middle school students. From 2012-2013, she worked on the marketing and communications team for Oracle Team USA, Winner of the 34th America’s Cup.
