We are excited to announce that Shawn McCusker is joining the EdTechTeacher team as our new Senior Director of Professional Learning!  Along with being our new lead consultant working with school districts and edtech partners, Shawn will lead our internal professional development and training efforts to ensure that EdTechTeacher instructors continue to provide the best educational technology training in the nation. 

Shawn has 25 years of experience as a teacher and leader in public, private and alternative schools. In 2006, he was recognized as a finalist for the ,Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Shawn was an early innovator in the creation and organization of online learning communities via Twitter. As an educational technology specialist, his lessons and student products have been featured in THE Journal, Educational Leadership and the Huffington Post. In 2016 he was named a Top Trailblazing Educator on Twitter by eSchoolNews. He is a columnist and author of the book “Becoming Active Citizens” about reforming civic education from Solution Tree Press. During the pandemic, Shawn worked for Digital Promise and the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program supporting coaches and leaders in traditionally underserved schools, building technology skills and systems.  Shawn is a Google Level 1 & Level 2 Certified Educator and a Google Certified Trainer as well as also a Newsela Certified Educator.
